High-efficiency Heat Exchanger (6th floor)

The HVAC system is a four-pipe VAV system, with digital controls, integrated fume hoods used for exhaust, and with variable-speed drives on most components.  A glycol energy-recovery loop is used between the laboratory exhaust and the intake air to reduce energy consumption.  Placement of the HVAC equipment and the distribution chases drove much of the building’s form to reduce duct and piping runs, which in turn saves energy.  A highly-insulated envelope wraps the entire building to reduce energy loss, while still maximizing natural lighting.
